AS-Good-Bye

Good-Bye Words and letters flitted and danced Before my velvety eyes My heart contracting painfully I read a farewell letter with a terrible finality/ It said time would open in spurts But it was time to part That our hour had struck/ Besides love was a hopeless bound There was no need to suffer on its account We were destined to that farewell/ So course and common With an expression sullen I tore the letter in pieces I already knew some such crises So I wasn't overwhelmed No matter how bitterly I was mistaken In reciprocity of affection/ In that moment of misery I thought he was even unworthy Of gossips that hammered me incessantly/ Love erred his ticket fared I sent him back to his own misery So be free to set out On some long and unknown journey/ He might imagine as well that someone is Constantly mocking him secretly...
